Who We Are
Consip S.p.A. is a public stock company owned by Italy's Ministry of the Economy and Finance (MEF) that operates on behalf of the State, within the framework of the strategic guidelines and tasks given by its sole shareholder.
Consip was created in 1997 under the aegis of the then Minister of the Treasury, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi - who later became President of the Republic- with the task of spearheading the modernization of Italy's Public Administration.
In 2000 the company was entrusted with the Program for the Rationalization of Public Expenditure, thus expanding into the field of government procurement.
Consip engages in complex projects in the fields of information technology, organizational processes, emerging technologies and communications in close interaction with the MEF, with the aim of promoting technological change within the Public Administration and of sustaining the development of an information society in Italy through the dissemination of the use of ICT.
